Arbaeen marked in Pak: Blasts in Karbala & Karachi condemned

KARACHI, Pakistan: A huge bomb blast tore apart a bus carrying Azaran-e-Hussaini to Chehlum (Arbaeen) procession in the southern port city of Karachi on Friday afternoon, and barely two hours later another lethal explosion struck a hospital where many of the wounded had been taken, police and hospital officials said.At least 25 Hussainis were martyred and several others were wounded in the two attacks. The higher leader of Shiite in Pakistan Quaid-i-Millat-i-Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi has strongly condemned bomb blasts on the bus of Azadaran and later on the gate of Jinnah Hospital on the occasion of Chehlum Shuhada-e-Karbala in Karachi.

Terming the incidents incapability of the government in providing protection to the people he said the failed rulers have no justification to remain in power. In a statement issued from the headquarters of the Maktab-e-Tashayyo, he said our combined enemy does not desire to see Pakistan prosper and wants to trample the economic jugular vein of Pakistan under a well thought-out conspiracy. Agha Moosavi said those who target the Ashoora, Chehlum and Milad-un-Nabi processions live in fools’ paradise and they should be aware that we had created Pakistan jointly and will defend it jointly also and no power in world could stop us from doing so. He said anyone who declares terrorism on the occasion of Ashoora and Chehlum of Shuhada-e-Karbala a Maktabi conflict, is not Sunni, Shia, Barelvi, Deobandi, or Ahle Hadees rather agent of the satanic powers. He said till 8th Rabiul Awwal only Gham-e-Hussain is observed therefore priority should be given to Azadari over all other matters. He said we would never allow murdering Azadari even if we all are murdered. The TNFJ chief said if the government is sincere in restoring peace then as a first step, it should break the network of 26 banned groups throughout the country including Karachi and check these elements who have been allowed by the government and the opposition to operate openly, under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Terrorism could not be rooted out unless the safe abodes of terrorists are destructed, he added. He said today our perpetual enemy is accusing us of Bombay blasts while she is committing naked aggression and terrorism against Pakistan for more that a quarter century. Therefore, the government should raise this issue at the level of United Nations and the ICC, he added. The Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi said that we had demanded from the Chief Justice to take suo moto notice of the Ashoora incident and set up an Enquiry Board but not taking any step towards this direction provides food for thought. He said hesitation on the part of government, opposition and judiciary on the Karachi affairs raise a question mark. He said had the real culprits were arrested after setting up the Enquiry Board then the enemy would not have succeeded in carrying out these tragic activities on the occasion of Chehlum. He lamented that all energy is being wasted to overcome each other. He said making appeals to the people to remain peaceful is useless as they are already peaceful. However, the government should control the terrorists and their patrons, he added. He said our enemy is reaping the benefit of political entangling going on in Karachi. If the government, opposition and leaders have love for Islam and Pakistan then they should ponder over saving Pakistan instead of saving themselves, he concluded.

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: An estimated more than 14 million Husseini mourners commemorated Arbaeen Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS) in the holy city of Karbala - home to Husseini and Abbasi shrines - on Safar 20, Feb 5 Friday paying rich homage to the supreme and matchless sacrifice rendered by the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S) along with his 72 faithful near and dear ones for religion and Shariah in the burning desert of Karbala some 1,400 years ago.

Representative of Al-Marjaiyah Al-Oliyah paid thanks to all brothers who participated in making this Zyarah al-Arbaeeniyah successful. He said that a record number of 14 million and 200,000 mourners from across the country and other global parts observed Arbaeen in karbala.

Meanwhile, at least 40 mourners were martyred and 154 others wounded when twin car bombs tore through a crowd of pilgrims packing a highway as they walked to the holy city on Friday for Arbaeen.

Five million to-date step in Karbala for Arbaeen commemoration

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Number of Husseini pilgrims who have entered the holy city of Karbala till February 1 to commemorate Arbaeen Al-Husseini (the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Al-Imam Aba Abdellah Al-Hussein, peace be on him) is five million, according to Othaman Al-Ghanami, chief of Al-Forat Al-Ausat operations.
Arbaeen (Safar 20) falls this year in Iraq on February 5.
Officials hope that the number of pilgrims will increase to 12 million on the day of Arbaeen.
Meanwhile, a female suicide bomber left at least 41 people martyred and 106 others wounded on Monday in an attack on pilgrims in the Iraqi capital who were trekking to the southern city of Karbala for Arbaeen, an Interior Ministry source said.

Pilgrims clad in black and carrying red, black and green flags were going to the shrine of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Mohammed's grandson.

"I started travelling on foot a week ago from al-Nasiriyah town," said Halim al-Zamli, adding that he is happy he has now nearly reached the shrine.

"Security measures are tight and they made us feel safe while walking, especially at night, near the empty desert roads," added the 41-year-old civil servant.

Iraqi authorities have deployed around 30,000 military and police officers on the roads leading to Karbala, in both fixed and mobile patrols.

Tourist agencies in Karbala expect the arrival of 500,000 visitors from outside Iraq to take part in the rituals, besides millions coming from the different provinces of the country.

Pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bahrain, Kuwait, India and Pakistan are expected to fill the 320 hotels in the holy city.

"My job is to provide pilgrims with rest, food and warmth. I feel I have to help all the visitors of Imam Hussein be comfortable," said Abu-Murtdada, the owner of one of the rest houses set up to provide pilgrims with food, drinks as well as medical help, if needed.

More Restrictions on Zaireen

More restrictions are tightened for the Zaireen of Baqee irrespective of their sect. The Barelvis are under watch this year. The Shias cannot recite ziyarat from the books, they are asked to shut their ziarat booklets. The zaireen hide themselves in crowd and recite ziarat. Sometimes the alloted One hour to visit Baqee is shortened by 30 minutes and the entrance is closed. Now the Mutawwas (religious police) mingle among the zaireen and try to prove the crowed that what they are doing is Shirk. They qoute sentences randomly from the ziarat . They do not listen to the answers and provoke the zaireen to become emotional and lose their temper.

Our brother who survived the earthquake reported that the Al-Mahdi Centre in Haiti has been flattened by the quake and 7 children have lost their lives. Most of the Shia families are now homeless.

New Zealand witnesses Ashura procession outside for the first time

AUCKLAND, New Zealand: Fatima Zahra Charitable Association (Hey`ate Fatemiyah) marked the martyrdom of the Master of the Martyrs, Imam Husayn (AS), by taking Ashura procession into the open for the first time in New Zealand history.

The event took place in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand. Shias from different ethnic backgrounds and associations (Husaynias) joined Fatima Zahra Charitable Association in a show of solidarity for mourning the martyrs of Karbala.

The programme included beating of the chest (seenezani), reading of ziyaarate Ashura and finally congregational prayer of the noon of Ashura led by Haj Shaykh Hamed Soltanian. The programme continued until night time (Shaame Ghareeban).Fatima Zahra Charitable Association began its programmes from 9th January 2008, the night before the first of Muharram 1429, with sermons delivered by Shaykh Hassan Sibaee and Noha recitation by Morteza Norouzi and Behrooz Koohi.

Half a million foreigners to mark Arbaeen in Karbala

HOLY KARBALA, Iraq: At least half a million (500,000) foreign pilgrims are expected to observe Arbaeen Al-Imam Al-Hussein in this holy city this year, Karbala tourism director said.In a press statement, Ahmed Abdel Hussein said that all of the 320 hotels in the city have been reserved by these foreign pilgrims who belong to Gulf States, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, India, Pakistan, Iran and Africa.
